Auschwitz-Birkenau concentration camp is a very important place -not only for the Jews but for all the humanity. During the Second World War (between June 1941 and January 1945) the Nazis killed there a million of innocent people. It has become the symbol of Holocaust and genocide. This unusual area is listed on the UNESCO World Heritage List.
The Salt Mine in Wieliczka is placed on the UNESCO Heritage List. It was opened in the 13th century and used to be one of the most important salt mines in Europe. Since 18th century it has become a unique tourist attraction. Wieliczka Salt Mine has 300 km of mineshafts with some of them having statues sculpted in the salt, a lot of chapels and chambers that make enormously strong impression. Moreover, while in Wieliczka it is also worth seeing the Cracow Salt-Works Museum located in the Salt mine and medieval Saltworks Castle.
